What’s new in the digital world?


Twitter


  • Twitter has added another option to help increase the utility of Spaces, with some Spaces hosts now able to access full Spaces analytics, including the number of people that tuned-in, total speakers in the session, replays, duration and more.


  • Last week, Twitter finally launched keyword search for DMs, providing a means to locate specific mentions within any DM text, so you can track down past conversations, products and people mentioned, links shared, etc. As you can see here, Twitter’s updates DM search options now filter your queries into four segments:


All – Which displays all the results for your query, including username and key term matches

People – Highlights relevant usernames based on your search term

Groups – Shows group chats that use your search term

Messages – Which now displays any keyword matches in specific DMs

  • Twitter is testing a new way to maximize your Spaces content, with an option to create audio clips of up to 30 seconds from your audio broadcasts in the app.


YouTube


  • This week YouTube has launched a new slate of TV shows in the app that users will be able to watch for free, with ads, as it makes another advance into commercial TV territory.
  • YouTube has previewed some upcoming updates for YouTube Live, including live stream guests, new notifiers for when a channel is broadcasting in the app, and updated viewing options. First off, on live guests – similar to other live options, YouTube will soon launch a pilot of what it’s calling ‘Go Live Together’, which will enable creators to invite a guest to their live stream by simply sending a link.


Instagram


  • Instagram has now launched its algorithm-free, chronological feed option to all users.

Favorites – This displays the latest posts from accounts that you’ve added to your ‘Favorites’ list. You can add up to 50 accounts as Favorites, helping to prioritize updates from these users

Following – This shows you posts from all the accounts that you follow in the app, as per the regular Instagram feed.

  • As part of its continued focus on expanding its eCommerce listings, Instagram will now allow all users to tag products in their IG posts, starting with users in the US.
  • Instagram’s currently testing a new ‘Scheduled’ sticker for Stories, which provides another way to promote your upcoming events.

 

LinkedIn

  • LinkedIn has added a new way for brands to stay in touch with their audience on the platform, with Company Pages now able to create their own newsletters in the app, which will also include new notifications for Page followers for newsletter updates.

Pinterest

  • Pinterest has released a new update, now giving users the option to download and share their Idea Pins on other social media platforms. For now, these platforms include Facebook and Instagram.
